There’s something about a big meeting at Scunthorpe that’s hard to explain

BANGERANG 2026 Saturday 19th September 4pm

There’s something about a big meeting at Scunthorpe that’s hard to explain unless you’ve actually stood trackside and felt it. You can spend weeks talking about cars, drivers, championships, prizes and who’s going to come out on top, but when the gates open, the noise starts and that first car comes onto the track, none of that really matters anymore. You’re just there. Waiting for that first big hit. Waiting for the drivers to let them loose. Waiting for the moment when the whole place comes alive. And that’s what I want BANGERANG to be.

I don’t want it to just be another meeting on the calendar. I want people to walk through the gates and immediately feel that something big is happening. I want the atmosphere. I want the noise. I want the crowd reacting to every hit. I want the drivers throwing everything they’ve got at it and the kind of moments that people are still talking about on Sunday morning. Because that’s what banger racing is supposed to be. It’s unpredictable. It’s chaotic. It’s loud. And when it all comes together, there’s absolutely nothing else like it.

There’s also a lot riding on this one. For the drivers, it isn’t simply about turning up, having a few races and going home. There are championship battles, points to chase and World Final places on the line. But from my side of the fence, I’m not going to pretend I’m only interested in the competitive side of it. I want to see people having a bloody good day. I want families coming through the gates, kids seeing their first proper banger meeting, old faces coming back to Scunthorpe and the regulars getting another meeting they can’t wait to get to.

I want the drivers to enjoy it. I want the spectators to enjoy it. And most importantly, I want people leaving the Raceway thinking: “That was a quality meeting.” That’s the standard. We’ve put a lot of work into the Raceway this year and there’s plenty more still to come. But every meeting is ultimately judged by what happens when those cars hit the track.

So to every driver bringing a car. To everyone travelling across the country. To the families coming along. To the regulars who are there every meeting. To the people who haven’t been to Scunthorpe for years. And to anyone who’s never experienced it before… Come and see what BANGERANG is all about. This is one of those meetings where I genuinely think the place could be bouncing. And I can’t wait to see it.
