ELLIE ROSE TRAVEL Scunthorpe Scorpions want another away impressive performance at Berwick’s Shielfield Park tomorrow evening (Saturday) at 7pm – as they look to move top of the Cab Direct Championship table.
Scunthorpe were scheduled to take part in two away meetings this weekend, but their visit to Glasgow today (Friday) was called off first thing, after heavy overnight rain.
Scunthorpe are currently joint top of the table with reigning champions Poole Pirates. A point against Berwick would take Scorpions top – and they have a 59-31 advantage when it comes to the aggregate bonus point, after a hefty home win over the Bandits at the Eddie Wright Raceway on May 15.
In their last three appearances as a team – all away from home – Scorpions won 48-42 at Redcar, missed out narrowly by 44-46 at Workington and then drew 45-45 last weekend at Edinburgh.
Scorpions will use rider replacement for the injured Dan Gilkes. Luke Harrison is missing on European Under-19 duty and he is replaced by Alfie Bowtell.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Of course, it would be nice to move to the top of the Cab Direct Championship table, but we’re not just focusing on the aggregate bonus point at Berwick.
“We’ve put together a string of terrific away results and I’m delighted how the boys are performing as a team. We’d like to keep that up at Berwick.”
Expected teams for tomorrow (Saturday):
Berwick Bandits: 1. Peter Kildemand, 2. Jye Etheridge, 3. Victor Palovaara, 4. Lasse Fredriksen, 5. Nick Morris, 6. Jack Smith, 7. Jordan Jenkins.
Ellie Rose Travel Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Josh Pickering (C), 2. Connor Mountain, 3. Alfie Bowtell (guest), 4. Dan Gilkes R/R, 5. Michael Palm Toft, 6. Ryan Ingram, 7. Nathan Ablitt.
