Scunthorpe Speedway | Speedway & Stockcars | Eddie Wright Raceway
ELLIE ROSE TRAVEL Scunthorpe Scorpions are seeking a positive start to their Cab Direct Championship fixtures at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway tomorrow evening (Friday, May 15) at 7.30pm.
It’s the first of two meetings in two days for Scorpions, since they also travel to Plymouth on Saturday evening.
The meeting will see new signing Dan Gilkes make his club debut for Scunthorpe. The 23-year-old has put in some notable performances at the EWR in past seasons.
Luke Harrison is ruled out of action for Scorpions, due to the concussion protocols, following a crash at Northampton last Thursday, for which he received a very harsh and somewhat unjust exclusion.
With eight out of nine Championship clubs in action, and a very limited choice of guests available, Scorpions will use rider replacement for Harrison.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey is expecting an improvement on results heading into the league campaign.
He says: “We start our league campaign against Berwick and it definitely needs to be a winning start, and there is no time like the present for the team to step up.
“We’ve made one change, but we are also looking for improvement from other areas of the team and the jury is still out on that one.
“We have options that keep popping their head up, but I want to be loyal to our riders. I know there are some very good riders in this team but some of them just need to come out and show us that.”
Accompanied children are FREE for the meeting, while there will also be a kids race during the evening.
For those who cannot make it to the Eddie Wright Raceway, Scorpions are live streaming the meeting for just £13.99 at: https://tv.scunthorpe-speedway.co.uk/
