ELLIE ROSE TRAVEL Scunthorpe Scorpions suffered a hefty 32-58 defeat in the BSN Series at Redcar last night (Friday).
Scorpions never recovered from a poor start that saw them concede 5-1s in the opening three races and they were already 20 points down after seven heats.
New No 1 Josh Pickering scored half of Scorpions’ total, totting up 16 points, and the Australian was unbeaten after a third place in Heat 1. The race of the evening was in Heat 11, when Pickering nipped inside former Scorpion Jake Allen in a photo-finish.
There was a major delay after electrical problem in the referee’s box following Heat 10 and the last five races were started off the green light.
