Scorpions seek home victory

MAXiCab KO Cup Leg Two

SCUNTHORPE SCORPIONS vs Poole Pirates

ELLIE ROSE TRAVEL Scunthorpe Scorpions are looking to return to winning ways when they host the Poole Pirates in the MAXiCab Knockout Cup at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway tomorrow evening (Friday, April 10) at 7.30pm.

Scorpions started the season with a 50-40 home victory against Redcar on March 22, but since then have lost 32-58 at Redcar and 29-61 at Poole in two hefty away defeats. That second defeat means that Pirates are firm favourites to reach the quarter-finals of the cup.

Both teams are set to be at full strength for the clash.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey says: “We’re realistic and it’s not about the aggregate win against Poole. But then again this is speedway where anything can happen.

“But, first and foremost, it’s about making sure we take victory on the night. Winning at home is the bread and butter for all clubs.

“In our previous home performance this season at the Eddie Wright Raceway against Redcar, we took a pleasing ten-point victory. Poole have once again put together a very good side and it will be a top night of speedway with some great racing, and we’ll do everything we can to win on the evening.

“As for our performance in the first leg at Poole on Wednesday night, it was clear that we are currently lacking in certain departments and our riders know that we need an immediate response.”

Accompanied children are FREE for the meeting, while there will also be a kids race during the evening.

For those who cannot make it to the Eddie Wright Raceway, Scorpions are live streaming the meeting for just £13.99 at: https://tv.scunthorpe-speedway.com/
