ELLIE ROSE TRAVEL Scunthorpe Scorpions’ 16-year-old star Ryan Ingram won the British Under-21 Semi-Final at Leicester yesterday afternoon (Sunday) with a 15-point-maximum.

He joins fellow Scorpion Luke Harrison in the final at Redcar on Sunday, June 7. Harrison finished third in last year’s final at Glasgow.

Fresh from his heroics for Scunthorpe on Friday evening – when he scored 11+2 against Glasgow including defeating all three of Tigers’ heat-leaders – Ingram won his two opening outings at Leicester with the minimum of fuss. He then overtook impressive 15-year-old Ollie Binns on the second lap to win Heat 9.

Heat 15 pitted Ingram against the similarly unbeaten Jordy Loftus. Loftus led into the first corner, but Ingram hugged the inside line on the exit to the second corner and took charge of the race, before he completed his maximum in Heat 18.

Ingram said: “Qualification naturally was the main objective, but I felt confident I had the pace to take the win today. I’m really pleased with my performance and looking forward to the British Under-21 Final at Redcar.”
